I was lucky enough to attend the world premiere of the Congo film in SLC at the Outdoor Retailer trade show in August. The event and film where both truly amazing. The vibe and energy in the theater at the premiere was just a special thing to be a part of. WW expedition royalty was in attendance in full force with names like; Fisher, Bradt, Sturgis, Garcia, Marr, Boomer, Lindgren, Lesser, Kern, Gracie and many more. Its awesome when you see people like Rob Lesser and Scott Lindgren so stoked on the film and accomplishment that they are getting autographs from Steve Fisher and the rest of the boys.
Successfully running the last un-run section of the Congo river and the largest volume rapids in the world is a true boundary pushing accomplishment that will go down in the history books under “incredible.” The film truly transcends kayaking and can be appreciated by all that appreciate adventure, exploration and athletic accomplishment. The film is put together in a documentary style that captivates and keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. The cinematography, personalities and adventurous story all combine to make this film truly exceptional. The bottom line is that you need to see this film!
