I am one of those “warm heart, FREEZING extremities” kinds of people, so having an easy way to keep my hands warm is greatly needed. While I usually opt for one of my Loki Jackets when the weather gets chilly, as they already have gloves in the sleeves, I still also own jackets that don’t have that lovely feature, and still need gloves. Wearing giant ski gloves doesn’t really do the trick with a fancy jacket. The Montane Prism Glove has tackled warmth, accessibility, and fashion in a wonderfully soft package.EEMontanePrismGloveReview 3When I first put on these gloves, I noticed a different texture in the fingertip of my thumb, middle and pointer fingers compared to the rest of the glove. I have heard claims of gloves having conductive properties to be able to use touch screen devices, but usually they aren’t consistent, are too bulky, or just don’t work. The Prism Glove offers a different side of the story; they actually work. You can Tetris, text, and talk without ever taking off your gloves. The last version of this glove offered conductive thread on the underside of your fingertip, that conductive area now covers your whole fingertip making it natural to use. Picking out precise areas on your screen is even easy with the tapered shape of the tip of the glove. The texture took a little getting used to, but I am happy those conductive areas are there, and they don’t seem to have any effect on how warm my fingers are.EEMontanePrismGloveReview 4 EEMontanePrismGloveReview 5I never grew out of that childhood stage of losing just one glove, and if you’re honest with yourself, I imagine you’re right there with me. Ski gloves have come up with a multitude of ways to attach themselves to each other, and to you, but these solutions don’t often translate well to life off the chair lift. By using such a light and packable insulation and outer fabric combo, these gloves compress to the size of a kiwi in their stuffsack, and I like that. This stuffsack allows you to keep your gloves together when not in use, clip them to your keys/purse/what have you, or shove them in your bag without ever wasting your time looking for a mate.EEMontanePrismGloveReview 8Windproof gloves are the key to life for me. Take that a couple steps further and bring in water repellency, and fast drying qualities, and then you’ve really got yourself some well-rounded gloves. In addition to being well protected, they also offer great technical support. The brushed micro fleece lining gives you a taste of the fuzzy world, while also allowing moisture to wick away. If you do soak your gloves in the snow or rain, the Primaloft Gold insulation will breath and dry out very quickly.EEMontanePrismGloveReview 9Verdict? Buy! You’ve got comfort, capability, and class in an attractive little package. These gloves are perfect for being active in cold weather, walking to the grocery store or going out to dinner. It’s hard to say no to something that works so well!
