EnergizerCupInverterReview 2The Energizer 180W Cup Inverter is a compact powerhouse that allows you to easily and conveniently charge up to 5 devices at once off your vehicle’s battery. It is designed to securely fit in a standard cup holder and operate extremely quietly and cool, through the use of a thermal fan. The unit allows you to have all your essential adventure gadgets charging at once, within arms reach and only utilizes one 12V outlet, keeping your other 12V outlets available to power essentials like your GPS.

The only real downfall of this unit is that it takes up a cup holder, which can be in short supply in many vehicles. In the end though this is really not an issue, as the unit can really be placed just about anywhere, leaving the cup holder for that cold beverage to keep you awake on those long drives. Another minor drawback of this unit might also be the LED indicator light on the top of the unit that glows blue when charging, as it is bright enough to possible be a distraction at night.

While the included battery cable clamps aren’t something I ever find that I use, they could come in handy if you wanted to power up some of your gadgets directly off your vehicle’s battery around camp. This allows you to keep the doors shut on the vehicle and on hot days keep your gadgets from frying in the hot vehicle while they charge.EnergizerCupInverterReview 3Even thought I have a large inverter system wired into RV systems in the Sportsmobile, I find that this little cup inverter is much more convenient while on the move. It is always close at hand and with the USB outlets I’m able to charge a lot of my essential gadgets at the same time. It is the norm to find my iPhone, Sarah‘s iPhone, a GoPro and either a Nikon DSLR battery or laptop hooked up to this inverter at the same time while cruising between adventure destinations.

This unit is also lightweight and compact enough to bring with you on air travel adventures for use in the rental car at your destination. I recently used this unit to keep all my essential gadgets powered up when I flew out to the SW for the SoCal Mountain Rendezvous and Baja 1,000.

The Energizer 180W Cup Inverter is a value priced powerful tool that can be utilized by all adventure travelers. It’s pretty amazing how much it can do from its tiny little form.
